Teatro alla Scala, Milan
Crusing through the Galleria to the Piazza della Scala, one finds the large statue of Leonardo Da Vinci standing proud in front of La Scala Opera House, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Da Vinci, known for such famous works of art as The Last Supper, which can be seen in the UNESCO World Heritiage site of Santa Maria Delle Grazie just a few blocks away, was Italy’s true Renaissance Man. He lived in Milan for 16 years as court artist for the ruling Sforza family and for them composed a multitude of work, such as the floor-to-ceiling mural recently discovered under layers of paint in the Sforza Castle.
