Serguei Fomine

Diego

Serguei has dedicated over 10 years to produce “Russia From Above”. The project comprises over 30 regions in Russia making it one of a kind. Different aircrafts have been used to capture the most visually attractive natural, historical and architectural objects of Russia. The author’s collection comprises pictures remote places that have never been shot before. This feat has made Serguei one of the most renowned aerial photographers in the world.

“Spending my first years in a room without facilities with the size of seven square meters I learned to love boundless spaces. Besides this almost Freudian motif, I guess that the strongest driving factor was, no matter how trivially it sounds, love of the country where I was born.” His sources of inspiration have been "Earth From Above" by Yann Arthus Bertrand and Klaus Franke’s aerial images over Iceland. “Their photography have become like a sort of quality standard when I’m out shooting”.
