In 1912, British Diplomat James Bryce hailed U.S. national parks as “the best idea America ever had.”
He was commenting upon legislation passed in 1872 in an Act of Congress which established Yellowstone National Park as the first park set aside to preserve its natural beauty. Since then, 58 other parks have been declared national parks and their grandeur and varied landscapes have been the source and inspiration for photographers the world over.
Two photographers in particular, Jim Wark and Dave Cleaveland, have amassed extensive and breathtaking collections of some of America’s greatest national treasures.
