Piazza Duca D’Aosta And The Pirelli Tower, Milan
At the time of its construction in the late 1950s, the Pirelli Tower was Milan’s tallest building. It reaches 32-stories and hails Ponti’s often-used design shape, the diamond.
In stark contrast to the smooth, modern facade of the tower sits the nearby Central Station, a hodge podge of Liberty and Art Deco styles, amongst others, and considered by Frank Lloyrd Wright to be one of the most beautiful stations in the world.
