With windswept golden dunes in the Sahara, fragrant spice markets and rowdy souqs of city centers, and the salty tang of sea-side towns, it’s no wonder that aerial photographer Steve Brockett considers Morocco one of the most evocative places in the world.
Located at the northern tip of Africa, with coastlines on both the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean sea, Morocco is home to 32 million people and a vibrant culture. “From the air,” Steve says, “Morocco reveals, on the one hand, a rural landscape, with medieval and biblical farming practices, unchanged for years.” On the other hand, Steve continues, is the “stark contrast of Morocco’s bright, modern face” seen in the famous cities of Marrakech, Tangier, and Casablanca. Rabat, the country’s capital, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and CNN’s Number Two travel destination in 2013.
