Downtown also boasts City Hall, a modernist-style structure whose futuristic look has been used as the background for numerous movies and television shows. Nathan Phillips Square, the large concrete space directly in front of City Hall, offers a venue for concerts, markets, and numerous multicultural events, as does Yonge-Dundas Square, the city’s newest public square, coined “Toronto’s Time Square” with its flashy LCD and LED billboards and pedestrian-only zoning.
