A snow-capped Mount Rainier in the distance, a glistening Elliott Bay at the forefront, a city brimming with art and industry: Andrew Buchanan’s lens zooms in on the beauty of Seattle, Washington.
Nicknamed “The Emerald City” in deference to the lush evergreen forests of the surrounding area, Seattle is a city which respects its greenery, its art, and its general down-to-earth attitude of locals. Andrew Buchanan, one of those locals and owner of Subtle Light Photography, a Seattle-based company specializing in commercial and residential architectural photography, turned his lens on his hometown to showcase its architectural and natural majesty: from the iconic Space Needle to the idyllic University of Washington campus to the deep blue of Lake Washington to the meandering beauty of the Puget Sound. “I love looking for patterns and shapes in my images and so I like anything that offers the opportunity for those kinds of images,” Andrew says.
